Meet Andrew Mercer
Andrew is a native Texan (yee haw, howdy, y'all), but came to Springfield from the mountains of southwest Colorado. He has been married to his wife Becca for 16 years, and they are the proud parents of Evelyn (9) and Lettie (6), and the proud owners of Milo their dog. Becca, Evelyn, and Lettie are also the proud owners of Salt and Pepper the rabbits.
Andrew was received into the Catholic Church on Christ the King Sunday in 2017, coming from an independent protestant background. Primarily because of the teaching of Christ, but partly due to his background, he has a keen interest in ecumenical dialogue and in fostering mutual understanding between Catholics and non-Catholic Christians. He has a BA in Humanities and Biblical Studies, a Masters in Theological Studies, and a PhD in History of Christianity with a specialization in patristics. Besides spending time with his family and reading, he loves spending time outdoors: hiking, fly-fishing, gardening, golfing.
His favorite things about working at CCM are witnessing students lead their peers into encounters with the love of Christ and fostering discussions on challenging issues or doctrines that are difficult to understand.
